JOYS of Relationships

Image
Most everyone likes them. Most everyone wants them. If they are not in one, they want to be. If they ARE IN one, they don't want to be. RELATIONSHIPS are HARD WORK!  It's the best feeling when you finally meet that man you've had your eyes on and he asks you on a date. He is more than you could ever imagine or dream of. He pays for your dinner, he treats you to a movie and snacks, then drops you off, opening your car door and is the politest of gentleman you've seen. He romances you and meets the family. You love to go places and do things and enjoy each others company. It's truly HEAVEN ON EARTH!  He asks for your hand in marriage,  you say YES!  The BIG DAY comes and you walk to the end of the aisle...life is finally beginning!  You are swept away on a romantic, beautiful honeymoon, savoring the delicious foods and each other.  THEN...the challenges come with each passing day. You find out his faults, he finds out yours. One day the

FRUIT MENTALITY

Image
This week we have posted Bible verses about Labor due to celebrating Labor Day on Monday. Laboring is a GOOD THING!  Doesn't it feel great when you've accomplished something that you've always wanted to do? Or even after completing a task that you thought you could never finish?  We produce fruits from the labor that we do. Fruits are things that will show what kind of "laboring" we are doing. My fruits may be different than your fruits. My fruit is more a "spiritual" reward than a "physical" reward. I like to know that people are helped through SCIH and it's awesome to hear and know when someone has been encouraged! :)  Your fruit may be receiving a paycheck and even a bonus because you've went well beyond your call of duty in your workplace. It's sad to look around and see so many that are not willing to work or even have goals for their life. They would rather live off the benefits from th

ALL for HIS GLORY

So many times, we feel that what we are doing is so insignificant. Many of us have children and are changing messy diapers or constantly picking up the house. I remember so well....just after I had swept and mopped the kitchen floor, one of my children would spill sticky Kool-Aid all over that clean floor. It was a never ending job. Not to mention the time it took to discipline all day!  Even if you are going to work everyday, you may be "day-dreaming" about your "perfect" job. And how you wish things would work out so you could do what you feel "called" to do!  Sometimes I think, if I wasn't so busy doing everything for everyone else, I COULD GET DONE what I NEEDED TO DO!  Although, it may be true,  what are the motives behind doing what I NEED TO DO? Is what I need done more important than serving others? There is ALWAYS going to be dirty laundry, beds to make, etc. There's no doubt about that. No matter if you are home all

BE FREE of distractions

Image
In today's world, we have so many distractions. It can be hard to stay focused reading the Bible or praying because there are so many things that are causing our minds to wonder. We may see a good verse and want to "share" it on Facebook or Twitter AND THEN we start wondering what everyone else is up to and end up spending our "God time" wasting "Our time"! In Romans 7:15 Paul tells us, "I don't really understand myself, for I want to do what is right, but I don't do it. Instead, I do what I hate." It is an everyday struggle to do what we know God wants us to do. We are not gaining "points" with God if we DO these things, but it sure puts us in a better place and keeps our faith steady so that we can receive the things God wants us to receive. You may be thinking, "well, there's really nothing I am needing...life is good...my bills are paid..."...BUT ONE DAY may come and someone in your family o

A little bite is all it takes

Are you a bread lover? A chocolate lover? A candy lover? Have you noticed the more you age, the harder it is to lose those extra pounds? Have you ever been on a diet forcing yourself to eat more fruits & veggies and stay away from your favorite breads/carbs? You begin to lose a little weight and then you open the refrigerator and are tempted to eat just a "little bite of a bagel". After all, a little won't hurt!  So you eat the "little bite" and are really not satisfied so you go back and eat "another" little bite. But by the end of the day, you've eaten the whole bagel and possibly a couple more!  The next morning you jump on the scale, praying you didn't gain any weight..and whew! You didn't....but then weeks down the road, after continuing to eat foods that are unhealthy...those favorite jeans are filling a little snug. It didn't happen over night but it sure did sneak up on ya. After feeling disguste

Make-up? or Application?

Image
Women now have so many options when it comes to make-up & face creams.                The older we get, the more concerned you become with aging skin and ways to improve the appearance of wrinkles and age spots. There’s many companies that advertise  brands of make-up and promise how young and beautiful your skin will appear, if you only try “their” make-up. But in watching many hours of make-up tutorials, reviews of products, brushes, and applications...I’ve learned one thing…. It’s truly not about the brand of make-up you are using,  but how  you are applying the make-up you have! Just like applying make-up, we have to “apply” the Word of God correctly in our life, in order for it to work. The “foundation” may be right in front of us, but in order to “build” on it, we must first apply it. We cannot see any results if we don’t apply the product! Foundation is very important in using make-up. It keeps the other products such
